About me
|
Not many people add an 'about me' section and I feel it's nice for people to know.
About me… I suppose the first thing to do is to tell you my car history so far… It all started at 16 when my Mum bought a VERY old yellow beetle, apparently for me. The aim being to do it up, make it run like clockwork before I started lessons at 17. The truth was the car wasn’t for me, it was for my Mum …and we all knew it! So loan behold, I only drove the car once and this was my first experience of driving an actual car, before that it was Go Karting and my steering wheel for the Nintedo 64. I very naughtily took the wheel on an old car park and went round a few times, my Mum forgetting to mention that when you brake at low speeds you need to press the clutch down, so I bunny hopped my way to a stop. The car was never done up and shortly after was sold on. Leaving me, a petrol head without even a car to evem pretend was mine. And so it continued until I was 19 – I might add that I passed my test at 18, first time, with two minors- Oh Yeah!
At 19, that is when I met my first love, my Corky, my little azure blue 1.2 Grande 5door, X-reg Renault Clio. And I loved him to pieces. He gave me the freedom I craved and of course the driving thrill. There was not a better looked after, cleaner, shinier car in the country and I soon stacked up the miles on him. My love for my little Corky leads me into a confession; I have a HUGE soft spot for the Renault Clio Sport, I can hand on heart say if I won the lottery today the Renault Clio Sport 200 (with cup chassis of course) is the first car I’d buy! I would then go onto buying the whole Clio sport selection starting at the Williams special from the 90’s. So as you can see, it is a pretty enormous soft spot for these little cars.
Of course with a soft spot as big as that, the car I now own is… A 2010 Ford Fiesta Zetec S… TDCi- yes the big petrol head has a diesel car. And for your information he’s called Bolt. This was due to my then job. I needed a reliable car so my little Corky who had done 72,000 miles wasn’t so reliable. So new car it was, the reason for the Ford Fiesta, the Zetec S package looks sporty, but the diesel did more miles per gallon. Which unfortunately is what I needed in my very grown up job, travelling 10,000 miles in 8 months. So I waved goodbye to my Corky and said hello to Bolt, who between me and you, I never quite bonded with, it was a last minute annoyance buy, the worst thing you could ever do! It was in protest at Citroen for letting me order a lovely new DS3 sport (diesel) and then bumping up the finance we agreed to the point where I couldn’t afford it anymore, so had to cancel my order. It is a very long story but the moral is, don’t go straight to another car dealership after.
If you're wondering the significance of the Aston Martin above, that is in my opinion the best looking car in the world, the whole range in fact. And I have been on a driving expereince with one, and it was great! Who doesn't love Aston Martins?
Then there’s me, I’m an ordinary hard working girl, with a lovely bloke by my side and my 2 gorgeous doggies, Jester and Penny.
Oh better tell you my name… Hi I’m Gemma, thank-you for reading my ramblings xx
